BUYING A HORSE ...
We've been browsing on-line videos of horses advertised for sale.
We'll be doing this from time to time. We've picked out some of the ones we thought might just be good prospects for you. Now, that doesn't mean theses horses are going to be what they're said to be, or what your looking for. But watching videos is one place to start.
Not to mention, it's just plain fun to watch them.
So, nose around!
Have a look-see.

Remember
Always get a prospective horse vet-checked. Make sure you take someone knowledgeable about horses with you - even if you consider yourself an expert. 2 heads and 4 eyes provide more opportunity to spot something. Be sure to ride the horse you're considering. Ride a lot and after the seller - or someone representing the seller - has ridden the horse. Make sure all agreements are in writing! Go to the Hitching Post page for more tips.
If A Seller Won't Ride Their Own Horse
you'd best be suspicious and find out why. Watching a video is a good start, but it's just one small slice of shopping for a horse. A lot of bad habits, lack of training, and soundness issues can be covered up. Really look the horse over. He may work great for one rider and just plain not get along with another.
If you want a safe, reliable horse do your homework. You are working on finding yourself a match, not something pretty or with great bloodlines. Those things come after you have found a well-broke horse. Of course, if you want a more challenging horse, that's what you look for.
